Procedures: KAYACRYL™ Basic ED Dyes for Polyester

Basic-Dyeable Polyester and Regular Polyester Reserved at 250°F

Prepare, rinse and neutralize fabric as required.

  • Set bath at 120°F with:
    • 3.0 g/l sodium sulfate anhydrous
    • Dyebath ph 3.2
  • Run 10 minutes.
  • Add pre-dissolved KAYACRYL Basic ED Dyes (dissolve in 100-120°F water – do not use acetic acid).
  • Heat to 170°F at 2°F/minute and hold for 15 minutes.
  • Heat to 250°F at 2°F/minute.
  • Run 60 minutes.
  • Cool to 170°F.
  • Sample.
  • Drop bath and refill.
  • Rinse at 120°F for 5-10 minutes.
  • Drop bath.
  • Finish as usual.

Basic-Dyeable Polyester and Regular Polyester Dyed at 260°F

Prepare, rinse and neutralize fabric as required.

  • Set bath at 120°F with:
    • 1.0% PERMASPERSE DP-12 leveler if needed.
    • 2-3 g/l sodium sulfate anhydrous
    • X% acetic acid ph 4.0-5.0
  • Circulate 5 minutes
  • Add pre-dispersed PERMASIL Disperse Dyes.
  • Circulate 5 minutes
  • Add pre-dispersed KAYACRYL Basic ED Dyes. (dissolve in 120°F water – do not use acetic acid).
  • Circulate 5 minutes
  • Heat 2°F/minute to 170°F. Hold 15 minutes.
  • Heat 2°F/minute to 250-265°F. Hold 45-60 minutes, depending on shade.
  • Cool slowly to 160°F. Sample.
  • If shade is acceptable, drain and rinse.
  • Mild reduction clear at 160°F for 10 minutes.
  • Rinse and drop.
  • Finish as usual.

Exhaust Dyeing of Basic-Dyeable Polyester

  • Set bath at 100°F with:
    • 3-6 g/l sodium sulfate anhydrous
    • X% acetic acid 56% pH = 4.0-4.5
    • 0.5-1% PERMASPERSE DP-12 leveler
  • Add KAYACRYL Basic ED Dyes (pre-dissolved at 120°F – do not use acetic acid)
  • Circulate 5 minutes.>
  • Heat at 2-3°F/minute to 175°F. Hold 10 minutes.>
  • Heat at 2-3°F/minute to 250°F. Hold 30-45 minutes depending on shade.
  • Cool to 160°F. Sample. If shade is acceptable, drop bath.
  • Rinse in warm water.
  • Finish as necessary.
