PERMACRYL® Powder Basic Dye

PERMACRYL® Basic Dye is especially suited for beater, pulper and calendar stain application for paper board.

Liquid and powder dyes are illustrated in separate categories due to slight shade variations between the two forms.

These dyes are highly recommended for unbleached Kraft and groundwood coarse paper applications such as:

PERMACRYL® Auramine OO

Widely used for coloring all grades of paper where good light fastness is not essential. This dye is heat sensitive and should not be dissolved above 160°F Especially recommended for unbleached pulp and groundwood.

PERMACRYL® Green Powder

Used as a self shade and in combination with Auramine for brilliant greens on all grades of paper where good lightfastness is not required. Often combined with Methyl Violet 4BX Ex. Conc. and Chrysoidine Y Ex. Conc. or Basic Brown R. Ex. Conc. for black and brown shades. Suitable for dipping and calender coloring. Also available in stable liquid form which is 50% in strength.

Procedures:

Dyeing at 140º

Pre-scour with 1& STANSCOUR® BRC at 160º for 20-minutes.

  1. Drop & rinse.
  2. Set bath at 90ºF with:
    1. Xg/l salt (per chart below)
  3. Add PERMARBIL® Reactive Dye (pre-dissolve in 160º-180ºF water).
  4. Run 10-minutes.
  5. Add 1/10 total amount of Soda Ash over 10-minutes.
    1. Run 10-minutes.
  6. Add remaining 9/10 Soda Ash over 10-minutes (pH 10.8-11.2).
    1. Run 10-minutes.
  7. Heat to 140ºF at 2ºF/minute.
    1. Run for 45-minutes.
  8. Sample.
    1. If shade is acceptable, drop bath.
    2. When sampling shade, swatch should be: rinsed cold, rinsed warm, and neutralized with 0.25% Acetic Acid. Then, scoured at 200ºF – see steps 12-18.
  9. Rinse at 120ºF for 10-minutes.
    1. Drop bath.
  10. Rinse at 140º for 10-minutes.
    1. Drop bath.
  11. Neutralize at 120ºF with 0.25% Acetic Acid (pH 7-8).
    1. Run 10-minutes.
    2. Drop bath.
  12. Set fresh bath to 120ºF.
  13. Heat to 200ºF.
    1. Hold 10-minutes.
    2. Drop bath.
  14. Set bath to 120ºF.
    1. Hold 10-minutes.
    2. Drop bath.
  15. Finish as usual.
